Joshua Jewett advocates for employees’ rights in all types of employment law matters before federal and state courts, as well as in administrative and grievance hearings. Since graduating from law school in 2008, Mr. Jewett has spearheaded or substantially contributed to multiple six-figure results for the firm’s clients. While most of the matters he has worked on are subject to confidentiality, some others have been featured in the Washington Times, Virginian Pilot, WVEC News 13, and Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly.

The first case that Mr. Jewett took to a decision was a case of first impression in Virginia, (Workman v. Commonwealth Department of Corrections, VLW No. 1011-8-146), where the Court Ordered the Department of Corrections to reinstate his client, a Captain, with backpay and lost benefits based on Mr. Jewett's argument that his client's discharge was in violation of his Constitutional rights. Since then, Mr. Jewett has represented individuals across a broad spectrum of industries, from senior officials in the local federal sector against some the region's many federal agencies, to part-time workers making minimum wage.

In addition to representing employees in litigation-type settings, Mr. Jewett advises management and decisionmaker employees in both the private and federal sector who are facing disciplinary action, possible termination, or are being forced out. Mr. Jewett has helped clients in these situations either keep their jobs or peacefully exit from their situations by obtaining a negotiated severance package.

Mr. Jewett received his J.D. from Regent University School of Law in 2008, where he was a brief writer for Regent’s nationally recognized moot court team. Mr. Jewett’s team at the 2007-2008 American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition was awarded the Best Brief and Regional Champions at the Washington, D.C. Regional.

Mr. Jewett is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the American Association for Justice, the Norfolk-Portsmouth Bar Association, and the Virginia Bar Association. He is licensed to practice in all Virginia courts as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Mr. Jewett resides in Chesapeake with his wife and three small boys. In his free time, he is an avid follower of the Chicago Cubs and enjoys reading about theology and insider accounts of Washington politics. He is a member of New Life Providence Church, where he leads a small group.
